Bach Mai Hospital

Bach Mai Hospital is the first complete special-class general hospital in Vietnam and is the highest level in the medical industry's treatment ladder. The hospital currently has 56 units with 3,200 beds and more than 4,000 officers and medical staff serving their work.
1911: Bach Mai Hospital was established, initially as a small Cong Vong Hospital specializing in admitting and treating infectious patients.
1935: The hospital named René Robin was built on a larger scale, becoming the main practice facility of Indochina Medical University.
1945: The hospital was named Bach Mai Hospital.
Period 1945 - 1954: during the resistance war against the French, the Hospital was a fortress of our army and people in the resistance war to protect the Capital, professional activities took place in difficult conditions in all aspects.
Period 1954 - 1964: renovating facilities after war devastation, increasing the number of staff and expanding the scale of professional activities. The hospital was honored to welcome President Ho Chi Minh to visit twice: December 1954 and March 1960.
Period 1965 - 1975: during the resistance war against the US, many hospital staff volunteered to go to the South to fight. Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and other leaders of the Party, State, and Government have visited and encouraged the hospital's staff many times. In 1972, four times American B52 aircraft bombed and destroyed the Hospital, 28 medical staff of the Hospital heroically sacrificed their lives while treating patients.
From 1975 to present: the country was unified, Bach Mai Hospital entered a new era, taking on the responsibility of examining and treating patients at the last level of the health sector.
2006: Recognized by the Ministry of Health as the first special class complete general hospital in Vietnam.
2011: Celebrated 100 years of establishment and received the 2nd first-class Independence Medal; Scale of 1,400 hospital beds with: 02 Institutes, 07 Centers, 22 Clinical Departments, 06 Paraclinical Departments, 10 functional departments/divisions, Medical High School, Clinical Medicine Journal, Service Unit; Objective: build Bach Mai Hospital to become Vietnam's leading medical center on par with advanced countries in the region.
2016: On the path of integration and development, the Hospital celebrated its 105th anniversary of establishment and received the 3rd class Independence Medal for the second time; Scale of 1900 hospital beds with 55 affiliated units: 03 Institutes, 08 Centers, 12 Functional Departments/Departments, 23 Clinical Departments, 06 Paraclinical Departments, Medical College, Clinical Medicine Journal, Service Unit; Inauguration of Bach Mai International Conference Center has 01 700-seat conference hall with many modern equipment and synchronous mini hall system; Inauguration of the Children's Heart Center and Oncology Center building with a scale of 800 beds; Commencement of the Medical Examination Center at the old Tuberculosis Station and Bach Mai Hospital facility 2 in Phu Ly (Ha Nam) along with many other projects.
